Facebook Tips: How to drive website traffic from your Facebook Page. Some simple tips – Part 1
Driving website traffic from your Facebook Page, takes time and effort, but can be worth it
Here’s some simple tips to get your started…
With the millions of people on Facebook, your Facebook Page should be a great source of traffic to your website. Unfortunately this is rarely the case. In my experience, traffic from Facebook accounts for less than 1 per cent for many sites, and some much less than that.
Tips to slowly build traffic from your Facebook Page
But it doesn’t have to be that way. It is quite possible to slowly build the traffic from your Facebook Page, and it’s really not that difficult. Just by spending a few minutes every day, over time can really make a difference.
I’ve outlined below some simple Facebook tips I’ve found can help to drive traffic to your website from your Facebook Page:
1. Get more Likes.
The simple fact is that a Facebook Page, unlike a web page, is unlikely to attract any real traffic, unless you make efforts to get it there. One of the best ways to achieve this is to develop a strategy to get more Likes on your Facebook Page over time.
Don’t be tempted into buying Likes, as, although these may seem a very quick and cheap way to build them, they will show little value, as most of the accounts are not real people.
Working with clients, I’ve tried several ways to build Likes, all of them showing reasonable levels of success. These include: simply asking for them whenever possible, exchanging Likes with relevant businesses, running competitions and offering a freebie in exchange for a Like (this can be highly effective).
2. Set up a Facebook Page username.
If you haven’t done this already, it is well worthwhile. Then you’ll have a meaningful extension after Facebook.com to promote, both off and online.
Setting up a Facebook username is very easy. You just need to visit Facebook.com and login to your Page account. In the top right corner there is a long box, and the first one is marked “Edit page”. Click this to the drop-down and then click “Update Info”.
The third item down is the Username controls. From here you can set the username. You need to think carefully about choosing the right one, as it can be difficult and time consuming to change once set.
