I generally use a simple spreadsheet to do this and recently have moved over to using a Google Docs spreadsheet, as it is easier to share them with my clients.
So how does it work? Basically it is simply a way to store the keyword phrases with a little information around them. So the first column is the keywords themselves, then where I found them. The Search Volume column information I get from the Google AdWords keyword tool and gives some idea of the sorts of traffic you could expect from a high position. The final column is for any comments about the keyword.

Try it yourself – Add you own keywords

And that’s all there is to it. As I say it is a Google Docs spreadsheet so if you want to download it click “File” and then “Download as” Excel.

If you are a Google Docs user you can then upload the Excel file as a Google Docs spreadsheet and use it for your own keywords using Google Docs.
