There can be a whole lot of factors that decide how high a page is on Google, but certainly in my view the actual on-page keywords and how they are placed can make a big difference.

So what you need is to be able to do, is to go to your competitors web pages and have all the search terms highlighted so you can see where they’ve put them. Bit of a tall order? Actually there is a very simple way Google will do this for you.

First go to Google search and enter your keyword phrase you want to explore. When the results come up, run your mouse pointer over the result and a couple of grey arrows should appear in a box. Hover the pointer over this box and you’ll see a small graphical version of the page appear.

Run the pointer to above the graphic where the title is, and just below the title in the middle is the word “Cached”. Click on this and it will open Google’s version of the page with all the keywords highlighted.
