Obviously you can just start searching on Google or any search engine, and then note the position you find the phrase in the results. But this is very time consuming and the results can be slewed by other things like your Google account status.
So is there a quicker way to find where your web pages are positioned in the search engines? Yes, but you’ll need to use a keyword position tool; and one I’ve found to be most useful is: www.sheerseo.com.
Just go to the signup page and enter your details. When you click submit, you’ll be taken to a page where you can enter the keyword phrases.
Enter the phrases into the “Monitored search terms” box and press submit. Don’t worry if you don’t have that many you can always add more later. Now click on the “Rankings” link on the left and you should see your list of search terms with the current positions next to it (it may take a little while for this information to appear). The last column shows which page was found for the each search term.
After a week you’ll get an update on the positions, which is very useful if you have been actively optimising the web pages.
