From the business people I talk with many still don’t “get” Twitter. So what do they need to do?
It’s a bit of a step change
The problem is Twitter is still quite new, it’s still developing in what it can do for businesses and to some extent you can really use it to do what you want.
Part of the problem
This is really part of the problem. Non-marketing business people, can find marketing concepts a bit difficult at the best of times, but combine that with the idea that no one is really sure quite what the real potential of Twitter is, and it is no wonder they are so confused.
So as a business what do you need to be doing?
The most common comment from business people who don’ t use Twitter is, why would anyone be interested in what I had for breakfast or what I think about something.
Common misconception
This is a common misconception. In fact if you monitor business people that use Twitter a lot they tend to tweet on things that are going to be really useful to their customers (or potential customers), such as how a product can be used, or some breaking new about their industry.
Once business people start to understand this they see Twitter in a new light and are much keener to get on-board.
