It used to be much easier to do behind the scenes SEO in the meta-tags. Now, there are so many sites out there that it is getting harder and harder.
In my line of work, website hosting, the issue on google is it ranks those who are affiliates higher than those of us who are actual hosts. Not sure why they do this.

Thanks for your comment. Yes, it does seem to be getting harder to rank well on Google these days. Bearing in mind the Panda and Penguin updates, I think the message that is coming back is to focus on great quality interesting content, and this should help with the position in Google.
