Tips to help Google find your website content.

Is your website listed on Google. There is an easy quick way to find out.

If your website has been around for a while it is most likely Google will have already found it, but if it is quite new it might be worth checking.

You can easily check whether Google has found your website by entering what is known as a site: search operator, or to put another way enter site:yourwebsite.com into the Google search box. Here's this website as an example: site:reallysimpleseo.com.

Will a sitemap help my website get listed on Google?

A website sitemap is simply a file that contains a list of all the pages on your website. You can submit this file directly to Google through the Google Search Console.

Quite often these days the sitemap is automatically generated on your content management system (CMS), making this much easier.

However Google does say in their SEO Fundamentals documentation that they mostly find pages through links from other sites and sitemaps are helpful but not essential.
